Warranty & Returns

At Westrans, we're dedicated to getting you the quality parts you need. However, we understand that there will be instances where you need to return a part or make a warranty claim, and we will work with you to resolve the issue quickly and efficiently.


All returns, whether for refund or exchange on a new product, the return of a core, or a warranty claim, begin with receiving your Return Authorization Number from Westrans. Using your Return Authorization Number ensures that the return or warranty process is handled efficiently, and that you received your replacement product or credit as soon as possible.

  •   Warranty Claims

    At Westrans, we pride ourselves on providing quality products and workmanship. Should a warranty claim arise, we will work with you to resolve it quickly, and communicate the plan to resolve the issue.

    All warranty claims should begin by contacting the Westrans warranty and returns department. We can guide you through the process, to get your warranty claim resolved as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Do not uninstall the component from the vehicle (if applicable), or conduct any third-party repairs before you have contacted Westrans and received a Return Authorization Number. Doing so could delay the warranty claim process or void the warranty.

    The warranty claim process

    For Westrans in-house remanufactured components:

    To make a warranty claim on one of Westrans’ in-house remanufactured products, please follow the steps below.

    1. Complete the Warranty Claim Form

    Complete and submit the Warranty Claim Form. Include as many details as possible. Photos are often helpful. Failure to complete the form in full may delay the warranty process.

    2. Get a Return Authorization Number

    Warranty Claim Forms will not be accepted without the Return Authorization Number. Contact Westrans to receive a Return Authorization Number. Please call our head office at 204-633-9272 and ask for the warranty and returns department, or email warranty@westrans.com.

    To help process your warranty claim quickly and efficiently, please do not conduct any third-party repair work until you have contacted Westrans. As well, please do not uninstall the component from the vehicle, as some warranty claims will require on-vehicle testing of the component.

    3. Submit the Warranty Claim Form

    Submit the Warranty Claim Form by email to warranty@westrans.com or by fax to 204-632-6305. Once the Warranty Claim Form has been received, we will be in contact with you as to how to proceed.

    4. Send the product to Westrans

    Send the product to Westrans for inspection by our technicians. Please note that some warranty claims will require on-vehicle inspection. We will advise you if this applies to your warranty claim.

    5. Resolving your warranty claim

    If your warranty claim is accepted, the product will be either repaired or replaced, at the discretion of Westrans, and shipped to you.

    If the warranty claim is rejected, you will be contacted with instructions on how to proceed. In the case of rejected warranty claims, the customer will be responsible for transportation expenses for the return of the product.

    For products from one of Westrans’ suppliers:

    To make a warranty claim on a product purchased at Westrans from one of our suppliers, please follow the steps below. In evaluating the warranty claim, Westrans will follow the guidelines and policies as outlined by each manufacturer.

    1. Complete the Warranty Claim Form

    Complete and submit the Warranty Claim Form. Include as many details as possible. Photos are often helpful. Failure to complete the form in full may delay the warranty process. Warranty Claim Forms will not be accepted without the Return Authorization Number. Submit the Warranty Claim Form by email to warranty@westrans.com or by fax to 204-632-6305. Once the Warranty Claim Form has been received, we will be in contact with you as to how to proceed.

    2. Get a Return Authorization Number

    3. Submit the Warranty Claim Form

    Submit the Warranty Claim Form by email to warranty@westrans.com or by fax to 204-632-6305. Once the Warranty Claim Form has been received, we will be in contact with you as to how to proceed

    4. Send the product to Westrans

    Evaluation and testing of the product will follow manufacturer guidelines and policies. Please note that some warranty claims will require on-vehicle inspection; we will advise you if this applies to your warranty claim.

    5. Resolving your warranty claim

    Westrans will follow the warranty process as outlined by the manufacturer. We reserve the right not to issue credit or replace the product until Westrans has received authorization from our supplier. In the case of rejected warranty claims, the customer will be responsible for transportation expenses for the return of the product.

    Westrans accepts product returns for refund or exchange within 30 days of purchase. Products must be in new, saleable condition with original packaging, and will be subject to inspection. Products being returned after 30 days will be subject to a 15% Restocking Fee (some exceptions may apply).

    In the event that Westrans has made a mistake with your order, we will correct it immediately, at no additional cost. If you find an error with your Westrans order, please contact us as soon as possible. All errors must be reported within 15 days of receiving your order.

    The return process

    To return an item to Westrans, please take the following steps.
    1. Get a Return Authorization Number

    Contact Westrans to receive a Return Authorization Number. Please call our head office at 204-633-9272 and ask for the warranty and returns department, or email warranty@westrans.com.

    2. Complete the Return Claim Form

    Complete the Return Claim Form. Please note that returned items will not be accepted without the Return Authorization Number and Return Claim Form.

    3. Send the item to Westrans

    Once you’ve completed the Return Claim Form, submit it to Westrans along with the item you wish to return or exchange. Shipping and freight costs are the responsibility of the customer. All returns and exchanges are subject to inspection. Parts must be in saleable condition and in the original packaging.

    Special Orders

    Special orders are not returnable. Should an exception be made, special order returns will be assessed a 20% Restocking Fee, in addition to freight costs to return the item(s) to the original manufacturer.

    Products damaged in transit

    If there is visible damage on the packaging at delivery, please contact Westrans immediately. Then, contact the freight carrier that delivered your product, who can provide you with the required steps to make a claim. Westrans is not responsible for damage by third party carriers.

    If your order was delivered by a Westrans representative, please contact Westrans immediately. Keep the original packaging, and take photos of the damage to the item or packaging. Complete the Damage Claim Form. Your claim will be reviewed as soon as possible, and you will be contacted with instructions on how to proceed. We reserve the right to request the return of damaged items for inspection to determine the cause, extent, or validity of the claim.

    Usually, when you purchase a Westrans remanufactured product, such as an air compressor, brake shoes, transmission, transfer case, clutch, differential, or power steering gear, you will have a fee called a “core charge” applied to your invoice. This charge can be refunded if and when you send Westrans the “core” of the component removed from your vehicle.

    When returning your core, you must include:

    Return Authorization Number clearly printed on the box. (Contact Westrans to receive your number by emailing warranty@westrans.com or phoning 204-633-9272.)

    Return tag.

    Core Return Document.

    When possible, cores should be returned in the box that the replacement part shipped in.


    To ensure that you receive your core charge refund as soon as possible, please follow the core return guidelines as outlined below.

    Cores must be received within 180 days (six months) from the original purchase of the product requiring the core change. Failure to do so can result in the forfeiture of the entire core credit.

    Westrans reserves the right to charge back a customer if a core credit was issued at the time of the invoice, but the core was never received.

    Cores must be drained of oil.

    Cores that have been disassembled, have missing or damaged major components, cracked cases, or internal rust will not receive full credit. Please return cores exactly as removed from the vehicle.

    Cores must be the same part type and application of the purchased replacement part. If the core is not the same as the one shipped, core credit will be denied.

    The quantity of cores cannot exceed the quantity of units purchased. (At the discretion of Westrans, we may opt to buy non-eligible cores at the prevailing market value.)

    Cores being returned will be delivered at the customer’s expense. COD (cash on delivery) shipments will be refused.

    Westrans will inspect and evaluate all cores prior to issuing credit.
